About Me

Having been in education for 26 years, both as an English teacher and now as a Counselor, I find myself grateful for the educational journey I have traveled.  I reflect on my path and couldn't be more confident in being an educator-even more than ever.  At Preston, each day I am surrounded by amazing students and co-workers; every day brings challenges and many celebrations. During our day, we find joy in helping students find their passions through a variety of possibilities. Or, we might be problem-solving academics or even social dilemmas. We are also here for parents to help bridge the communication with their teens.   We enjoy the funny, creative, honest and kind young humans that surround us each day!

I am a Colorado native and C.S.U. graduate. I completed my Master's degree in Counseling from Lesley University. I was lucky to be surrounded by many educators who contributed to my love of school as both my grandmothers and mom taught. As for my immediate family, my husband and I have three special daughters who keep us very busy!!  Two graduates from C.U. and one starting her journey there. We cherish family time together in the Colorado or Wyoming outdoors. Additionally, we love our furry family members...Miley our Drahthaar, Auggie our lab, Winnie our cat, and many fish.

What I Love About Education

Counseling at Preston has allowed me to feel like I can make a difference for many students who may not be connected with the school.  Daily tasks for the counseling department are so diverse that it would be tough to describe what a day might look like. The best part of our work is learning from the students. No matter what we are doing, we all love working with them and helping them feel safe and comfortable here!  We will do everything we can to ensure that your child feels supported and has access to the resources to help them.

Favorite Books

I love reading so many different types of books including survivor stories, and historical novels (Lone Survivor, The River of Doubt, Nothing Daunted). This summer I enjoyed  The Nightingale.

Interests & Hobbies

Our family enjoys a variety of activities together such as boating, camping and fishing.  We were very fortunate to see whales, eagles and gorgeous landscapes in Alaska this summer.  My bucket list of places to see grows each year!

Courses Taught

Diversity Club is a group that I get to lead with Mrs. Jones -- all students are welcome to attend to discuss ways to make Preston more inclusive.  We share cultural ideas as well as explore the world's diversity through field trips.

Coaching Girl's Golf brings me joy in the spring. I am always impressed with the golf talent at Preston! If you are interested in learning more, look on the athletics webpage closer to March. Tryouts happen in mid-March.  Lastly, we have had two first place district wins that our girl's have earned!
