Mid-year is always an important time to re-visit our expectations in regard to cell-phone use with students and families. Cell phones are often brought by students as a reliable communication tool for families. Therefore, if a student chooses to bring his/her cell phone to school, it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to care for the cell phone. Cell phones are allowed in classrooms per teacher discretion. We understand that cell phones can be an effective tool in the classroom. Student cell phones can be used to assist with note-taking, organization, and much more. We encourage families to continue to discuss responsible cell phone use and care while at Preston.

Please send a note with your student to bring to the Front Office before school starts.  We will give them an Early Release Pass that allows them to leave class at the designated time to meet you in the front office.  This results in fewer disruptions in the class, and more teaching time! Thank you for your support in this!

 To our Preston families and community!! With your support our first annual Direct Dollars Donation brought in just over $11,000. That money will support our Teacher Mini-Grant awards. Preston teachers can apply for a mini-grant that will support an idea they have that will affect student achievement, student engagement and/or student passions. This is an exciting time for teachers as they get to be creative and apply for money that will support an idea they have and then be able to buy the item in a short turn around.

PRESTON DIRECT DOLLAR DONATION- The only Fundraiser this school year!

Preston Administration is partnering with the Preston Parent Organization to unveil The Preston Direct Dollar Donation for the 2016-17 school year. In the past, we have asked out students to help us fundraise by participating in sales. This year we are going to shift our focus to a direct dollar donation.

This type of fundraiser allows for 100% of the monies donated to directly benefit Preston students. 

Main Office Volunteer & Subs Needed:

Each morning, the Main Office uses a volunteer from 7:15-8:15am to assist students and parents with late passes, bus passes, dropped off items, etc.  We are looking for someone to fill this time slot weekly on Thursdays for the school year.    Additionally, we are compiling a list of people to serve as substitutes if the weekly office volunteers cannot make it.  Substitutes will be contacted on an as needed basis.  We are looking for 3 substitutes each day in hopes 1 will be available on short notice.  Please feel free to sign up for multiple days to sub, and as indicated in the sign-up, please email your preferred contact information to so it can be confidentially provided to the office staff.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Sign up HERE  Please contact Jen Hofer in the Main Office with questions:

Preston/Kinard Quebec City Trip

  • June 4-8, 2018
  • For current 6th and 7th graders who will have finished one year of French by the date of the trip
  • Cost: Approximately $1,725
  • Application packets can be found in the front office and are due back to Ms. Markland by Friday March 24, 2017 at 3:30 pm.

Join the Kinard and Preston French programs for an exciting 5-day exploration of the French-speaking city of Quebec.  Students will be immersed in the culture and will have many opportunities to practice their French language skills.  For more information, please e-mail Ms. Markland at


Parents and students pack up your snorkel gear and join us for an Oceanography Trip in Bermuda! We will take ten parent/student pairs to Bermuda for a week of science fun exploring the ocean environment of Bermuda while staying at the BIOS (Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences) site. Everything is included in the cost: rooms, food, transportation, admission fees, and instructor costs
Parents and students will get to participate in all activities as we learn about the history of Bermuda and experience the animals/plants found on land and in the sea. Snorkeling, kayaking, caving, tide pooling, exploring a beautiful island and all its scientific and historical wonders, it’s all included! Cost is $1500 per person plus airfare.

Greetings, 8th grade families!  Every year, 8th grade U.S. History teachers take a group of 8th graders to a city important to our country's history.  This year, the group will travel to Boston, MA from April 27 - May 2.   Sponsor: John Valdez -
