Biographical Sketch: I have lived in Colorado for 39 years, in Fort Collins for the past 27. I am married and have two daughters, my eldest has graduated from CSU and is now in the workforce, and my youngest is a junior at UCCS in Colorado Springs. I also have a 10 year old dog who is the cutest thing ever.

Education Background: I graduated from CSU with a B. S. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. After staying home when my kids were little, I went back to school to get my masters in secondary education. I am certified to teach Family and Consumer Sciences and Science.

Why I enjoy teaching? Nutrition and food are not only something I teach, they are things that I think about, and talk about, and work with, every day. Sharing this passion with middle schoolers is so much fun. Not many students this age have spent much time in the kitchen or designing clothing or interiors, so getting the chance to let them experiment with these things is my favorite. And middle schoolers are the most fun age, old enough to be absolutely hilarious but not old enough to take themselves too seriously.

Favorite Books: I love to read, and can't narrow it down to a single favorite! I have noticed that as I read more on my Kindle, I find it much harder to remember titles of books! I have loved reading I Capture the Castle, The Thirteenth Tale, and more recently Caroline: Little House Revisited.

Interests & Hobbies: I spend a lot of time cooking, reading, and walking my dog. I like being outdoors, spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy knitting, sewing and crochet.

Courses Taught: This will be my 14th year at Preston and I teach Intro to Culinary Arts, International Foods, Interior Design Exploration, Fashion Design Exploration, and Family and Consumer Sciences Explorations.

About my classroom: My classroom is filled with kitchens! I want students to feel at home and free to explore and experiment with their creative side.
