English Language Development in a STEM School - What Does That Look Like?

English Language Development (ELD):
English Language Development (ELD) is a systematic instructional model designed to develop the English language proficiency of Multilingual Learners (students who speak English as a second language).
ELD Provides:
- One English Language Development teacher for all three grade levels
- Services based on student needs and English language proficiency level
- Services may include:
- 3rd period ELD intervention class for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in-program students
- Push-in class support
- Small group support
- Targeted intervention
- Bi-weekly/Monthly grade monitoring
- Accommodations/Modifications
- Collaboration with General Education Teachers
- Social/Emotional/Cultural Support
- Support with organization, completing work, staying on task
- Optional Diversity Club involvement
