Hello everyone!

My name is Evan Barker, and I am one of the social studies teachers here at Preston. A long time ago, I was born in Boulder, CO where I attended school until moving to Berthoud, CO in the fourth grade. I grew up loving the outdoors, playing video games with my friends, and restoring antique tractors with my dad and brother.

When I was 18, I moved out and attended the University of Colorado (GO BUFFS!), but engineering was not for me. I then attended the School of Hard Knocks (ha-ha) and began a journey that would see me through working as a farmhand, serving as an EMT, and even battling the High Park Fire in 2012.

I decided I wanted to go back to school to further my education and I quickly fell in love with the idea of becoming a teacher. I attended Colorado State University and graduated with a passion for teaching middle school students. I was able to find a social studies position in Greeley, CO and my passion for teaching grew exponentially. I was recently lucky enough to be hired with Preston Middle School and I could not be happier! Preston has a great environment, an amazing staff, and the best students I could ever ask for. Thanks for reading my story and I am so excited to be a part of this community. GO PUMAS!
