Biographical Sketch: I grew up as an Army brat, was born in Washington state, have moved all over the U.S., and lived in Germany for six years. Through all of this the Front Range of Colorado has been claimed as my home. I married my husband, Colt, in 2013 and we have continued to grow as a little family; our daughter is 6 years old and son is 4 years old. We also have a wonderful Labradoodle dog and Siamese cat...needless to say our house is always busy and noisy!

Education Background: I obtained my undergraduate degree in German and received my teaching license from the University of Wyoming. In May of 2018, I completed my Masters in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from University of Colorado Boulder.

Why I enjoy teaching? I got into teaching because I love working with kids and feeling like I have an opportunity to make a difference in someone else's life. I love the seeing students experience those "lightbulb moments". Further, I feel so fortunate to work with such a diverse population of students from different languages, countries, and backgrounds and love learning from them everyday.

Favorite Books: One of my favorite books is Modoc: The True Story of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived by Ralph Helfer. We actually have named our camper van Mosie, after the amazing elephant in this book.

Interests & Hobbies: In my free time I love to do photography, ride my mountain bike, travel in our camper van, and spend time outside with my family.

Courses Taught: I am proud to teach English Language Development to our Emerging Bilingual students here at Preston.

About my classroom: My classroom is a place where everyone belongs, voice is valued, and identity is honored. I love the joy that comes from getting to know my students on a one-by-one basis. I hope my classroom is a place where students feel accepted and willing to take risks in their English language learning journey.
