"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." – Albert Einstein
I am a proud Colorado native who grew up right here in Fort Collins. As a graduate of Poudre School District, it’s an honor to now serve the same community as a science teacher for the past 24 years. My journey began at Colorado State University, where I earned a degree in Civil Engineering and began my first career as an engineer. While that profession challenged me, I soon realized it didn’t align with my personality or my desire to work closely with young people and make a lasting impact. That realization led me back to CSU, where I completed the Project Promise program, earning my Master’s degree in Education and my teaching certification.
In many ways, I think I always knew I would become a teacher. Growing up, I was fortunate to have incredible PSD teachers who shaped my values and inspired my curiosity. Their influence planted the seeds for my own teaching philosophy: I believe children are our future, and through education, they can learn not only to solve today’s problems but also to imagine, invent, and build tomorrow’s world. My goal is to provide my students with more than just academic knowledge—I want to nurture their respect for learning, their drive for growth, and their curiosity so these qualities stay with them for life.
In addition to teaching, I am the head Science Olympiad coach here at Preston, where the program is highly successful. I am passionate about the competition and the many academic and real-world skills it gives students—problem-solving, teamwork, resilience, and creativity among them.
Outside the classroom, I love spending time with my three wonderful children and my husband. I also enjoy going to musicals, traveling, and watching or coaching softball.
