Andrea continually works on optimizing happiness, being the best mom she can be by being an independent thinker and surrounding herself with people that make her a better person; keeping her body and mind strong, and taking risks. She excels at living in the present moment, being vulnerable, genuine, open and loving unconditionally. She spends her time writing poetry, hiking, running, and biking. Her poetry was recently published in a magazine in the United Kingdom. Her love outside of her family is unequivocally learning from students. Andrea currently resides in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Profile Text 2: 
Andrea Hollenbeck is in her 20th year of teaching band and has been teaching at Preston Middle School since 2004. Andrea earned a Master's of Music in Education degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Andrea earned her Bachelor's of Music Education degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Andrea serves as the Director for PSD Solo and Ensemble festival and has coached track and football. Under Ms. Hollenbeck's direction, her bands have earned Superior ratings at band festivals including Nordic Festival and Colorado Bandmasters Association festivals. Preston Symphonic Band was chosen performed at the Colorado Music Educator's State Conference in 2013 and will again in 2017. She prouldy plays clarinet in the Fort Collins Wind Symphony. Ms. Hollenbeck was was a clinician in 2008 at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Conference. Andrea's article on "Composition in the Classroom" was published in The Instrumentalist 2009 October edition. She is a certified SMART Trainer on Notebook and Response Clickers and teachers classes to PSD staff. She earned a trip to Calgary, Canada for a week of SMART professional development in 2014. She was the Rotarty Club Teacher of the Month in 2013. Andrea was a clinician at the 2016 Colorado Bandmasters Association summer conference. Her professional affiliations include CBA and NAfME. She has conducted a number of different honor bands throughout Colorado. Andrea previously taught elementary, middle and high school band in the Chicago area and Alabama.

Classroom Management: I use Love and Logic for my classroom discipline ( Students are in a safe environment and know the expecations and they are smart. We rarely have behavioral concerns in band. Band is treated as a family. ClassDojo will be used to communicate and celebrate student behavior.
