Biographical Sketch:

I was born and raised in Iowa. I am the youngest of 3 boys. I have been married for 23 years to my wife, Christa. Together we have 4 children: Isaac (20), Eden (15), Owen (12), and Ruby (7). We also have a sheepadoodle named Pippen and a bernedoodle named Oakley. Christa & I lived in Minnesota for 6 years prior to relocating to Colorado in 2004.

Education Background:

Central Lyon High School class of '93 (go Lions!); Bachelor's of Education Degree from Northwestern College; Masters of Education degree from Lesley University; school of hard knocks 1975-present

Why I enjoy teaching?

I enjoy the relationships that I build with my students.

Favorite Books:

I know I should be an excellent role model and be reading all the time...unfortunately that is not the case. I enjoy watching sports on television as well as The Office, Seinfeld, Big Brother, Survivor. I also enjoy various podcasts.

Interests & Hobbies:

I enjoy anything that is competitive and/or involves numbers. I love to play poker. I love to play basketball. I love to play catch. I really enjoy playing cornhole and recently started a cornhole league (Knucklehead League of Champions). I love sarcasm & chocolate & caramel. I am a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes as well as Florida State Seminoles.  I also enjoying riding my bike & playing fetch with my dog!

Courses Taught:

5th grade (Tavelli Elementary); I have been teaching 6th grade math at Preston since 2008

About my classroom:

"Ahhhh...I'm here"... That's how I want my students to feel upon entering my classroom. I love my students (current and former) & I love math...in that order. Check out room S209 and experience it for yourself. (There are pictures, flesh-eating fish, a deep freeze, and more!)
