NEW INFORMATION THIS SCHOOL YEAR:

Office Hours and Access
The Preston main office is open each day, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. All doors, including the front doors to our school are locked throughout the school day, except for a brief window before and after school for students to enter and exit the building. This year we will use the door buzzer at the front door during the school day to unlock the door for students, parents, and/or visitors. If you arrive and the doors are locked, please push the button on the outside intercom system on the purple wall to the right of the front doors and wait for a response.
We also ask parents and/or visitors that visit or drop off anything during the school day to park in the parking lot. Please do not park anywhere in the front fire lane for any length of time at any point in time. We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to ensure safety for our Preston community.

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT LETTER FROM ADMINISRATION:
Preston Parents/Guardians,

We hope you are enjoying your summer!  The 2018-19 school year is right around the corner. Please read the information provided below to learn more about the 2018-19 Preston Student Check-in.  We have made some changes to the format this year to streamline the process and make it more efficient for students and families.
When is Student Check-In?
Students are welcome to come at their convenience on the date indicated below that corresponds to their grade level.  The check-in format is an “open-house” primarily for students.

  • 8th Grade- Tuesday, August 7th  2:00pm- 5:00pm
  • 7th Grade- Wednesday, August 8th  2:00pm- 5:00pm
  • 6th Grade- Thursday, August 9th 2:00pm- 5:00pm

What happens at Student Check-In?
On check-in day we will be distributing schedules with locker assignments. Students should bring their school supplies on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 22, 2018.  However, students are welcome to leave supplies in their assigned lockers.  Click on the links below to find 2018-19 school supply lists. We are available to support with backpacks and school supplies upon request.

How do parents/guardians complete PSD required forms for some processes involved in Student Check-In or Registration?

PSD has transitioned to electronic signatures and forms for some processes involved in student registration paperwork completed before school starts. Please click here to read the email that was sent to PSD families in regard to the information pertaining to specific registration documents that are now available electronically.

What can you expect if you are a parent of a 6th grade student or of a child new to PSD/Preston?
All 6th grade and new students to PSD/Preston MS will bring home a PSD Provided Device User Agreement at the end of the first day of school.  Please click here to learn more about our PSD 1:1 Computer Laptops. If your 7th or 8th grade child attended a different PSD middle school last year, he/she will not need to pay the one-time laptop fee or sign the user agreement again.

What if you want to opt your child out of any PSD media?
Click here to access the PSD Media Opt-Out Form to complete and turn in to the main office.

How do I pay athletic participation fees and/or class fees?
PSD offers online payments for athletic participation fees, class fees, field trips, and other charges through SchoolPay.  Preston parents have the option to pay fees while at Preston or in the convenience of their home through the online payment portal SchoolPay.

New Family Orientation
We will host a new family orientation on Monday, August 20th at Preston from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  We welcome incoming 6th grade families and all new 7th and 8th grade families to join us for this informational evening. We will review information that we shared during the Preston Walk and Talks last November/December and the Preston Open House in January for families that were not able to attend one of these events.  During this event we will talk about many topics such as our daily schedule, drop off & pick up, transportation, PSD laptop use, activities, etc.

We look forward to having a great 2018-19 school year.
Sincerely,
Preston Administration
