Rebecca Chavez, Registrar
I have been with PSD since January 1994. I have enjoyed working at Lincoln MS, The Village, and Boltz in the past and have been very happy working at Preston since 2000. I was employed with HP for 14 years prior to working at PSD.
My husband and I are both natives of Fort Collins and products of PSD. We have been married since 1983 and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We have enjoyed all that Fort Collins has to offer and take advantage as often as possible. We love to travel and spend most of our time with friends and family.
I love the Preston community and look forward to many more years at Preston serving as the Registrar.

A little bit about me:
I was born and raised here in Fort Collins. After high school I attended to the University of Colorado (GO BUFFS!) and graduated with a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. After a brief period working in the world of brain research I moved to Colorado Springs, attended and graduated from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs with a Master’s degree in school counseling.
I come from a long line of educators. My grandfather, great aunt, mother, sister and brother, aunt, and two cousins all worked or work in public education! Education has always been a driving factor in my life; it is very fulfilling to help students succeed and grow as responsible young adults.
When I’m not working I like to spend time with my wife, Lindsey and dog, Lucy. You can find me in the mountains hiking or fishing, at local festivals or relaxing watching sports on the weekends. I love to cook fun and new recipes.
Julie Baker, 7th Grade Counselor
I am a Colorado native and graduated from CSU; I then completed my masters in Counseling from Lesley College. I am lucky to be surrounded by many educators as both my grandmothers, and mom taught. As for my immediate family, my husband and I have three special daughters who keep us very busy--one attends CU, one FCHS, and another Shepardson. We also have a pointer, and a grey kitty who think they're related. We love outdoor activities in the mountains together, such as camping, boating, and fishing. When the opportunity arises for travel, of course we LOVE to explore the world. Also, a good book in a comfy chair, writing and chocolate are other favorites of mine.
Counseling at Preston has enriched my life and allowed me to feel like I can make a difference for many students who may not be connected with school. Additionally I enjoy the opportunity to work with parents to bridge communication or problem solve. Daily tasks for the counseling department are so diverse that it would be tough to describe what a day might look like. The best part of our work is learning from the students—they are brilliant and super funny. No matter what we counselors are doing, we all love working with your students immensely and hope they feel safe and comfortable here! Thank you for allowing us to work with your kids!
